Sheffield Wednesday climbed to within a point of the Championship play-off places as they defeated Rotherham 2-1 at the New York Stadium.

Two goals early in the second-half from Lucas Joao and Fernando Forestieri proved the difference in a closely fought South Yorkshire derby at New York Stadium.

Tom Thorpe's late goal for the home side proved to be little more than a consolation, with the victory extending Carlos Carvalhal's side's unbeaten runs to seven league games.
