Belgium and Italy were eventually separated thanks to two second-half goals by Kevin De Bruyne and Michy Batshuayi but they were united as they paid tributes to those who lost their life during the Heysel Stadium tragedy.
The match marked the 30th anniversary of the disaster which occurred in 1985.
Italy's Antonio Candreva opened the scoring before Jan Vertonghen equalised for the world No 1s.
De Bruyne then stepped up to put his side in the lead before Michy Batshuayi rounded off the scoreline.
